My comments on tutoring Math : I have a great deal of experience in working with students struggling with basic math skills and concepts. From my experience in teaching, many students have not learned their basic math facts and/or fractions, decimals, and percents. These skills are necessary for students to move on to higher level math concepts.

I like to make learning as fun as possible. I strive to inspire students to want to learn rather than just teach. Communication is a key is a factor in my teaching. Communication between parents and teacher is essential in meeting the students needs.

I have taken many classes and seminars regarding personalities and teaching styles. I believe this is why when one of my daughters, now 16 years old, was having trouble in the third grade I pulled her and her twin sister and home schooled them through eighth grade. They now go to Santiam Christian where they excel - in fact the Admissions Coordinator told me that she has never seen kids do so well coming from a home school environment. As an older student I was very driven to achieve a high level of excellence in my education, hardly ever missing a class. I earned my bachelor's degree from Oregon State University, taking mainly writing and literature. In my master's program I did a lot of writing classes and I focused mainly on publishing, and subjects such as editing and grammar. Instead of taking Spanish, I took statistics. Since I was a young girl, the English language has been as important to me as breathing.
