I've loved reading since before kindergarten, I also enjoy reading dramatically I have worked in art and graphic design professionally for the past 6 years, however I have been freelancing and creating art for myself since 1998. I previously worked for the Hayward Area Historical Society, which included assisting in design for exhibits as well as some teaching to visiting school groups. I have also been asked to teach small groups of children about art, or help with general homework on numerous occasions. I work best one-on-one or in small groups, I can adjust my style to what a person needs after speaking with them for a while and understanding how they learn. I assess the student's level of mastery by listening to parents, communicating with the student (in whatever appropriate way needed) and then doing some basic testing. Once the student is assessed, I design a learning environment and activities that coincide with the student's specific strengths, while adding some elements of challenge. I tend to work in a very focused way for 10-15 minutes, and then add in tactile activities (like Bannana Grams for example) for 10 minutes or so, in order to maintain the student's attention.
