Japanese is one of my top subjects! I studied the Japanese language at UC Berkeley and University of Oxford. I also worked as a tutor under the Japanese language department at UC Berkeley. I am good at improving students' oral conversation skill and an expert on writing in Japanese.

I worked as a tutor at the Japanese Language Department of UC Berkeley. In the institution, I helped students from various cultural/ethnical backgrounds to improve their oral communication skills, as well as their reading and writing skills. As an actual achievement, I enabled students who hadn't spoken almost at all to speak what they wanted to say at least.
My policy is that I do not correct students when they make mistakes during a practice to speak because I believe that it is much more important to build up confidence to speak Japanese than to speak correctly. However, when I access their writings, I am pretty intense to correct mistakes that they have made because I know that it will eventually help them to improve their oral communication skills.

Japanese is one of my top subjects! Won Japan Bowl 2009, JLPT 2, Ongoing study for 7 years, visited Japan 3 times (2 for study)

My formal tutoring is limited to tutoring a freshman-level Physics study group at Dartmouth, but I've extensively participated in study groups for most of my schooling since high school. I have utmost confidence in my ability to logically convey mathematical and linguistic concepts in a way that helps students not only learn how to pass their tests, but also how to learn and comprehend new concepts independent of my tutoring. My ultimate goal is to help students think and study smarter, and also to help provide a bigger picture of how their current curriculum could influence their future careers and aspirations. I'm currently a rising senior at Dartmouth College, majoring in Physics after having participated in a study abroad in Tokyo.
I am one of the most logical thinkers I know, so my teaching style is geared toward understanding individual concepts under the framework of analogo ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I was a teacher assistant to an English Learning Development class in high school for two years, so I got to interact with students who just came to America from other countries, such as Iran, France, and Vietnam. I'm also currently working as a language tutor, helping American students with Japanese or Japanese students with English. I am passionate about reaching out to others who are new to America or just need help with the languages that I know. I also studied abroad in Japan last summer, so I've gained a perspective of Japanese culture as well as their relations to America. When I was in Japan I also helped university students prepare for their experience with studying abroad in America by practicing English with them daily. I also acted as a translator for English speaking students with didn't know any Japanese.

My comments on tutoring Japanese : Studied in UC Daivs

have worked as a tutor and translator since 2004. Tutored high profile politicians and students. Employee happiness is crucial to business success. It's not just about free lunch, onsite facility, high hourly pay, steady income, those are the basics. Happy motivated employees desire challenging jobs and projects in which they could express their individualism, their independent thinking, their creativity; where they can connect meaningfully with their audience not as a intruder but as a unique contributor, a timely helper, a creative solution provider who can make a significant impact in the process of the project and feeling accomplished seeing it to a effective completion. I have a friend who works at Google and have visited him couple of times for lunch and I truly appreciate how Google is treating it's employees. They are being trusted and treated like true business partne ... read more

I believe that education should be tailored to the needs, abilities, and learning styles of each student. I believe in consistent positive reinforcement and praise, and in tracking and measuring skills so that students have evidence of their progress. I hope to help students discover the intrinsic rewards of learning, but respect the joy and relief students feel when their goal is passing a difficult subject for promotion.
As a lifelong learner, I'm always motivated by students who have a curiosity for improving their own skills. I have a BA in liberal arts from Vassar College and a MS in Education from Queens College, which I earned through the full-time work/part-time study New York City Teaching Fellowship. I am fluent in Spanish, conversant in Japanese and French, and am always excited about learning more languages. As a special education teacher, I've worked with large classro ... read more

I'm a graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, but I spent a significant portion of time earning the equivalent of a minor in Japanese. I took many courses in religious studies and philosophy, enforcing my writing and critical thinking skills. I started tutoring when I was in high school and continued through college in both paid and volunteer positions. I've tutored in basic mathematics, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, statistics, 3D mechanical drawing, civil engineering graphics, chemistry, conversational English and ACT test preparation.
I've aided ESL students, native Japanese students, K-12 students, as well as college students. Even when I tutor groups, I mold my questions and instructions to each student to try and tailor instruction to his or her personal learning style. I offer a broad background of teaching experience and a strong understanding of science and math ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

In 1983 I completed an ESL teacher training course at Stanford University, and subsequently was hired to teach English in Japan. I made heavy use of the prevailing ideas in ESL teaching at that time. More recently, in designing teaching materials for middle and high school students, I have attempted to map my lessons to the cognitive skills identified in Bloom's taxonomy.
Over the past decade I have also prepared science curriculum materials (middle and high school) for Glencoe McGraw-Hill, Gale Thomson, Pearson and John Wiley. I am the author of The Globalization of Trade, an introduction to the economics of globalization for young readers (published in 2004). Most of my curriculum writing has been science-related, but I have also prepared articles in other areas for Gale Thomson's reference books. My academic training was in the physical sciences (physics, chemistry). I ear ... read more

In addition, I try to provide activity not only creating secure environment but also evaluating students understanding. I believe that all students have a potential to acquire learning, but teacher should aware of their learning style differ, therefore teacher need to integrate various teaching methods to meet t ... read more
