Upon receiving my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, I pursued English tutoring as an occupation. I have won several awards as a student & employee in the English field.

Positive & helping students find what makes them love music

I've got a lot of performing and music experience and follow the idea you can't really teach something if you can't do it!! The things I tutor are all things I have accomplishments in doing. I wrote above that I'm Emmy-nominated, toured everywhere, charted on Billboard and played with Nick Jonas, Pentatonix, etc. I've always chased quality and growth in the areas I've worked on. Especially as a vocalist, songwriter and producer, I've had to do so much by myself outside of instruction that I've gained a lot of knowledge that I regularly impart on my students.

Learning is Always New

I've taught creative writing to Japanese university students in English only (songs, stories and poetry) for two years, and ESL to all ages in Japanese society for 22 years. In America, I taught freshman public speaking, composition, and literature at the university level. My students have gone on to top-level universities, and placed first in prefectural level speech competitions.
I teach how to learn, and encourage a love of learning, as well as teaching the subject. I base all my lessons on the value they allow the student to impart to society, both economically and ethically. I encourage students to welcome responsibility and empower themselves as learners.

A Little Bit About Me...

Basic piano geared towards student interest level. Many of my students have quit piano from other teachers because they were bored or forced to play the same classical song for 4 months until it was perfect. I engage the student.
I began playing piano at the age of 5. At 13 I started teaching piano in Hawaii Kai at the request of neighbors and the business has continued all these years. One of my former students is a police office now, one is a prosecuting attorney, one sailed on the Hokulea. I have great pride in feeling that my small role as a teacher helped steer them towards a successful career. We all know that music instruction helps students do better at school. A Little Bit About Me...

Anyone can be taught anything as long as they are sincere in learning that thing. There is no one style of teaching that works for everyone. Any teacher worth their weight in salt would know that you have to first understand the student in order to teach them. Sometimes the teacher will need to teach the student how to learn.
I am dedicated to help others to better and empower themself through teaching and various learning processes. I have taught ESL at my church and enjoy helping others to overcome perceived barriers to learning. I am currently pursuing a Masters in Organizational Leadership and Development and feel strongly to helping people become better leaders as well as better people. The best way for this to happen is through listening, talking, and understanding the students' goals.
