I believe that every student has the privilege and desire to reach his/her learning potential and that there are many different techniques and strategies to help them reach that potential. I believe that a hands-on approach to learning is best - in all subject areas. I have a great deal of experience working with students of various ages and learning styles. I will strive to help any student that I work with gain knowledge and be able to apply that knowledge in their schooling and everyday life. I graduated from the University of Iowa in 1989. My degree is in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading. I taught in the same school district for 20 years where I gained experience teaching first, second, third and sixth grade. I will find a positive way to teach a student of any age. Although I always say I don't have the tolerance for negativity, I consider myself an expert when it comes to turning it into positive thinking. I also have extensive experience teaching students that are either hesitant or reluctant to put forth effort to learn. From my teaching experience at the University of Iowa, I think that the level of understanding of the subject varies from student to student. Some students grasp the subject easily while it is hard for others. Therefore I always try to teach the subject in a manner that will consider all the different levels of students and in which questions are encouraged. I have earned two MS degrees and a BS degree in chemistry in my academic career. I have two-and-a-half year experience of teaching undergraduate students at the University of Iowa. I received a very good evaluation from students which I would be happy to share with you. I have also passed SPEAK TEST along with the English Language Performance Test which is a requirement to be able to teach at the University of Iowa.
