A Little Bit About Me...

I have substitute taught grades K-8 for 4 years now. I have also worked as a teachers assistant as a one on one with a student with a behavior management plan. I have tutored at a learning center for about a year. I have always been involved in the education field, and love working with children.
My philosophy of education is that all students can learn, and it is up to us as teachers to present materials in a way for their understanding. In the classroom with the use of differntiated instruction and tiered assignments I think this helps reach most learners. It's true that every student learns at a different pace with a different style. I like to see myself as a cameleon teacher, catering my format to individual needs. My style tends to be laid back so that students are comfortable expressing their likes and dislikes with me, curbing their fear of not understanding something. I love to use metaphors, pictures, examples and stories to illustrate the subject in a new and perhaps clearer way. Presently, I teach second and third grade self-contained special education at Evergreen Avenue Elementary School in Woodbury, New Jersey. Prior to teaching elementary school, I spent six years working in a variety of roles at Holicong Middle School in Central Bucks School District, Pennsylvania.
