Experience Summary
I was raised and educated in several countries , so I became fluent in several European languages, and began to love languages and their use in culture and communications. In the military and Us government, I was a language/area specialist, and then in my main career as a United Nations interpreter , I worked together with ambassadors , world leaders and organizations around the world, communicating in the UN official languages,English, French, Spanish and Russian, as well as occasionally in German , Italian and Portuguese on regional assignments. After my army service and early retirement from the UN, I returned to my greatest love, language teaching , and have worked for the last 15 years as a certified public school language teacher and more recently, for the last 7 -9 years, as a college language professor and instructor ( I still teach some classes at ICC in Honolulu and do occasional lecturing st UH here ). I love improving students´ language skills, and helping them to be successful with languages, just as great teachers once helped me.
Teaching Style
I like to be friendly and supportive and work in the way that is best for each students. Some prefer emphasis on certain skills ( I.e. speaking, reading , writing, grammar practice or specific test practice ) while others have different preferences. I work with them to support their preferences and to have the best possible outcome.
My Hobbies
Everything “language related” and music ( I play several instruments, sing, and made several hit recordings).
