Experience Summary
For the past 18 years I have provided special education services to students in grades K-12. After further specializing in the intervention of reading disabilities and dyslexia, I exclusively instruct students using the Orton Gillingham Method. My experience ranges from working with kindergarten students, to high school students, who are preparing for post secondary education. My background in foreign language and linguistics (Russian) has prepared me to work successfully with students, who are English language learners or have identified needs in Speech and Language.
After completion of the Basic and Advanced courses through Orton Gillingham Academy, I completed a 50 hour practicum under the supervision of an Orton Gillingham Fellow, with continuing certification through the Academy in progress. In my professional practice, I have provided over 300 hours of instruction to students in grades K-12 throughout my school district.
Teaching Style
With the appropriate instruction, I believe that all students can progress and build confidence in themselves as learners. It is my job to bring quality instruction and positivity to the lesson, with the goal of creating a genuine learning experience that will increase achievement in the classroom. It is important to me that students can be themselves during the lesson and communicate what they need to be successful. Beside data that is kept during the lesson, I take into account student needs and goals. Overall my teaching style is relaxed yet structured.
