Experience Summary

Hello! My name is Ali and I am currently a response to intervention specialist in a public school. My road to literacy education was guided by a preoccupation with dyslexia. I was a constant witness to my childhood friend’s frustration and disappointment as that friend struggled with reading. I pursued a double major in English and Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Education. I completed the five-year course of study at Georgian Court University in four years. I am professionally and personally proud to experience the joy on children’s faces when they come to an awareness of their ability to read. These moments mark the beginning of their road to literacy and provide concrete foundations upon which all teachers can build. I completed the Orton-Gillingham certification in multi-sensory reading at Fairleigh Dickinson University and recently obtained a master's degree in Education, also from FDU. By playing an active role in preparing young people to become better readers, I will enable them to achieve higher education and become lifelong learners. I have grown to view the reading process as a milestone in the life of a child.
