Experience Summary
I graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in English Literary and Cultural Studies and a minor in Spanish. I have taught ESL conversation classes for almost three years now, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (also at OU). I have helped many people with over 100 essays, and I worked as a Writing Assistant in the OU Honors College Writing Center for one year, helping students in a wide variety of classes to improve not only their individual essays but also their overall writing abilities. I have tutored people of many different ages, from children learning to read English to post-doctoral scholars trying to publish their research.
Teaching Style
My main goal is to help my students become more confident in their own abilities to learn material, improve skills, and express their ideas. I will not give anyone all the answers, and I will not do all the work for anyone, but I will help anyone to achieve his or her goals by providing the tools for success. I will never simply say that something is incorrect without explaining why. I try to center my students' interests in fun activities to make learning more exciting. If I can turn something into a game, I will!
My Hobbies
I love reading, watching, listening to, and writing stories. Of the many sports I have participated in over the years, gymnastics and soccer are still my favorites to watch, and I play soccer whenever I can. I enjoy camping and hiking (when the weather is not too cold). Though I am not very good at cooking, I love to eat, so I do it anyway.
