Experience Summary
I am a native Spanish speaker from Spain. I am currently working as a bilingual teacher assistant in a high school in the ESOL classes here in Escambia county. I am also a translator and interpreter for the school district. I have years of experience tutoring students from all ages and levels. In my home country I tutored English, Spanish and Literature. Now working in the ESOL department adds more experience to my career in education. Besides being a tutor, I worked for several years as a tour guide doing guides in English and Spanish. I love teaching and also learning. Learning is a process that never ends for me.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is first of all finding out if the student has some basic knowledge of basic linguistics in the native language. I believe that is essential to be able to teach and learn a second language. If the student doesn't have that basic knowledge then it is important to teach it and that way it is easier to learn the foreign language. Being from a Spanish speaking country the student will be immersed in the culture also. Reading and conversation is very important in addition to learning theory.
