Experience Summary
I have a solid educational background in chemistry and my general interest in all aspects of the sciences make me a very well rounded and informed candidate. In attaining my science mastery, I have become very facile at mathematics as well. I have taught Chemistry (General, AP, and Honors), along Space, Geology, Earth and Life Science classes for 12 years both privately and in public high schools here in California and abroad. I easily build rapport with students and have tutored for many years all the way back to 1990. Furthermore, I am authorized to teach Specially Designed Academic instruction in English (SDAIE) courses under SB 2042.
Additionally, through my teacher training and years of classroom experience, I am a team player who excels at communication and interpersonal relationships between myself, students, parents, and colleagues. I am a dedicated worker and possess an acute attention to detail-- I will never do a job that is just ‘good enough.’ I am introspective, constantly using Formative Assessment strategies to reviewing both my performance and that of my students, so as to plan more effective ways to perform my duties in the future. I am a dedicated adherent to Arizona State University’s Modeling approach to instruction and have full access to all resources available to those who have been trained in this powerful teaching technique. In addition, my experience as a full time Classroom Teacher, and Graduate Student Teaching Assistant, I have 17+ years of experience marking exams, and other Summative and Formative Assessments, and keeping student scores in an organized manner.
Teaching Style
I use a mixture of Socratic methodology, direct instruction, worked examples and analogies to render difficult conepts understandable to students.
