Experience Summary
Hi there, I have more than three years of experience in tutoring/teaching general chemistry at Humboldt State University. I started teaching supplemental chemistry courses as a sophomore and through my experiences I was able to bring the passing rate of my chemistry class from an average of 70% to 80%. I have loads of handouts and practice exams on many subjects that I have personally made in order to help students practice the subject of chemistry. During my studies I have taken many Physics and mathematics courses needed for the degree and feel comfortable with tutoring math up to Calc I and general physics. Due to some family emergencies I have been needed at home and want to keep my skills sharp and help students understand these tough subjects in an easier way.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is to create a relaxed fun environment while learning, and to also be able to put terms in simple lament terms. I think a lot of people are just very intimidated by science classes and I think that teachers and textbooks do a great job at scaring people into thinking they are tough subjects when in reality (from my experience) they are very rigid and easy to think about once you realize there isn't that much information that you need to know.
My Hobbies
Walking and hiking with my dog, mountain biking, listening to music, working out, browsing the internet.
Other Comments
Rates will depend on the subject and I can also tutor groups if needed.
If you have a friendly dog and want to save like 5 bucks on the tutoring we can talk something out about me bringing my dog along and they can play while we do some work. He is a 2 yr old 55 lb Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler Mix named Feynman, super friendly and loves to wrestle/play with other dogs, Fully vaccinated of course.
