Experience Summary
I taught 1st grade for 5 years in Oklahoma City Public Schools. I decided to go back and get a Masters in Reading and am currently working as a reading specialist in my school. I attend and present at many professional development events. I am currently trained with LETRS and the Wilson Reading System. I am currently working with Payne Education Center on becoming a language therapist. I have presented at several events hosted by Oklahoma City Public Schools. I also have a knowledge base with dyslexia. I have tutored eight children with great success. Eight may not seem like very many, but I do not tutor more than 2-3 children at a time so I can devote my full attention to them.
Teaching Style
I specialize in the foundational reading skills, phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency, with vocabulary and comprehension mixed in. Most children who aren't comprehending what they are reading have holes somewhere in there foundational reading skills. I work diligently to fill in these holes to create a solid reading foundation.
