Experience Summary
I have been in the accounting field for over 20 years with experience ranging from public accounting, government, higher education, non-profit and construction. While I was employed at Alvernia University I was an adjunct professor teaching all levels of accounting. I also taught other business and management courses.
While employed at Alvernia and Beloit, my responsibilities included but not limited to:
• Ensuring the accuracy, fiscal integrity and timeliness of all financial reports, tax returns and other applicable reports (e.g., annual financial statements with footnotes, A-133, PHEAA IAG, Form 990 and 990T)
• Confirm and oversee compliance requirements with various federal, state and local tax laws
* Manage and direct all activities related to accounting functions, general ledger accounts, internal control systems, expense reimbursements, cashier, payables and receivables, and student accounts
• Provide periodic reports on the financial performance of the University and budget reconciliation and variance reports for the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the President of the University and/or the Board of Trustees, including quarterly, unaudited GAAP statements
• Coordinate and prepare the annual budget for the University, analyze the impact of various budget requests, prepare budget sensitivity analyses and make recommendations
• Provide management estimates related to operating and non-operating activities, capitalization, depreciation rates and methods, receivable allowances, etc.
• Coordinate with the Vice President of Finance on debt service and cash flow forecasting, investment decisions related to working capital, activity and lines of credit
Teaching Style
The goal when tutoring or teaching students is to make sure they understand what they are learning. I will continue to work on a topic until what I call "the light bulb goes off in their head." When I see the sparkle in a students eyes that they finally understood, that is the reward.
My Hobbies
I am 3rd class pilot. I am also working with a dog trainer to train search and rescue dogs.
