Experience Summary
I cam currently teaching 6th grade language arts at Southwest Middle School in Charlotte, NC. Previously I taught 8th grade reading comprehension and writing at The Fletcher School in Charlotte. I also taught 6-8 grades English at Providence Day School and 3rd and 5th grades, also at Providence Day, for a total of twenty years at this independent school in Charlotte. I have thirty years teaching experience over all. I have led workshops on the teaching of reading and writing for teachers on the local, state, regional, and national levels.
Teaching Style
I believe in finding out each student's best learning style and well as his/her strengths, weaknesses, and interests and teaching to take advantage of these skills and learning traits. I love to read and write and enjoy reading and writing with my students. At Southwest Middle School my students consistently show high growth on end of grade testing (EOGs).
My Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my dog Chase, attending Panthers football games, being active in my church, visiting and hosting family and friends. I love the beach and the mountains in North Carolina. I am originally from Maryland and have three brothers and one sister.
