Experience Summary
was most recently employed as an ESL instructor at a private language school in NYC where I have worked for four years primarily teaching a class size of 10 students. I have experience customizing curricula utilizing an immersion method approach which integrates listening, speaking, grammar and pronunciation. I also research and incorporate 'real world' supplemental material in conjunction with the Interchange and Headway language textbook series. I have also pitched elective courses and customized/lead a mandatory professional development workshop on the topic of integrating technology in the classroom. I recently presented at the 2015 Spring Mini NY TESOL Conference to nearly 100 attendees.
I have administered grammar tests in accord with both the textbooks and grammar point objectives. I have also monitored and recorded students' progress in accordance with ACCET (ESL standardization) requirements as well as held weekly meetings with students to discuss goals and to highlight focus areas. I have also assisted with the development of syllabi for elective courses, such as 'American Culture Through Film' and 'Jobs for Creatives in New York City' workshop.
I also offer private tutoring services through my tutoring service, Talk About English Language Studio, to a clientele of upper-intermediate to advanced international students attending university in NYC who need help paraphrasing, writing critical thinking essays and comparative literature interpretation as well as learning/practicing idiomatic expressions to develop their fluency. I have also helped students with test preparation and professional goal development.
