Experience Summary

I Have worked for the Davis County School district for 12 years. The last few years I have been working intervention for students who are not performing at grade level. I have learned that not all kids can learn the way they are taught in school. My 8 year old is dyslexic. I Have studied the Orton-Gilingham multisensory approach to reading and spelling. I have also learned to engage children in activities that are fun and creative. I will not be doing the same teaching style as there school.

ORTON-Gilingham multi sensory approach. Math without words until the concept is mastered. Using lots of manipulatives including video games, that teach concepts.

I have a daughter with dyslexia. I have studied all of the approaches to teaching children with disabilities. I use the Orton-Gilingham approach. I also teach math without words. When the concepts are mastered then we will add in the story problems.
