Experience Summary
I have tutored in math from 6th through 12th grade previously. I have a 4.5600 GPA and have often helped my fellow students. I have tutored my friend's brother in various subjects, and have been able to work with his ADHD. I took both an SAT and an ACT prep class, and I got a 2190 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. I also took the SAT Subject Tests and can tutor for those as well.
Teaching Style
I prefer to work with motivated students. I enjoy one on one tutoring best, but I can work in a group setting. I think I am best at explaining concepts verbally. Particularly when I tutor math, I like to explain the reasoning and concepts behind what I am teaching, rather than encouraging rote memorization. For SAT and ACT prep, I think it is primarily a matter of explaining the structure of the test and teaching ways to address different questions. The content is important and I can teach that as well, but the key to high scores is familiarity with the layout of the test.
