Experience Summary
I gained my first tutoring experience by explaining difficult concepts to classmates that were struggling. I have been a tutor on WyzAnt for about half a year now. I have tutored math and physics students both at the high school and college level. All of the students that I worked with rated my lessons positively.
Teaching Style
From my tutoring experience I have noticed that most students who have trouble understanding a difficult concept do so because they did not understand a more basic prerequisite concept, so I try to help students "fill in the gaps." When working with students, I work through a few problems with them, and then I have them do a few problems on their own to see if they understand. If I see that the student does not understand some prerequisite concepts required to solve the problems, I make sure to have them understand those concepts before continuing with the current problems.
Other Comments
I am a senior in High School. In tenth grade, I passed the AP Calculus BC exam with a five, thus running out of advanced math courses to take at my high school. Now I am a part time college student; I take several math courses at UNCC through the Escrow program. I have done extensive extracurricular independent studying of math and physics, which gave me an even better understanding of the subjects.
