Experience Summary
My name is Lisa and I am an independently contracted tutor. I have been a homeschool educator for 15 years and have been a tutor for 12 years. I have homeschooled from pre-k through high school in all subjects. I have not only homeschooled my own children, but also children of relatives and friends. I have my Childhood Development Degree, Early Childhood Certification, Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) certification and Early Literacy Intervention certification. I have over a decade of experience working with children of all different abilities as well as special education and gifted. I have tutored and educated several children on the Autism spectrum as well as children with ADD/ADHD, learning disabled, auditory processing disorder and I truly believe in whole child learning. I strive to make learning fun and implement different techniques according to each child's learning style. Every child is special and unique and I meet each child where they are and look forward to assisting them on their quest for knowledge. I also enjoy assisting young adults achieve their goals and offer many innovative strategies along the way.
I specialize in Elementary education but also tutor for ACT, SAT, GED, and college courses as well as being a Homeschool Consultant. When I am not tutoring I spend my days with my children who are 6,8,10 and 16. I am passionate about mentoring youth and young adults from my church and host women’s bible study from my home. I have dedicated my life to educating children and enjoy finding new and exciting ways to make learning fun.
Teaching Style
I believe in interactive, whole body teaching. I use various methods for the many different types of learning styles. I believe in incorporating not only traditional books, but also multimedia, manipulative and educational games.
My Hobbies
Reading and writing poetry, drawing, going on nature hikes, spending time with my children, playing games, music and karaoke.
