Experience Summary
I don't have much experience in tutoring students. However, in what experience I have, has been limited to college students and my my best friend's youngest daughter. Absolutely hated math with a passion. After tutoring her for a few weeks, she went to take a placement exam to determine what college class she would take math. She did very well on the exam, and her mom was impressed with how I was able to break things down in a way her daughter could understand.
Teaching Style
Depends on the needs of the student. In my first meeting with best friend's daughter, I gave her a sample quiz to fill out to gauge where she was. Then, we began to work through areas where she was having the worst issues. I focused on those and explained things to where she could better understand. I had her do homework then we went over it the next time we met. At the end, I had her take a comprehensive test over areas we had covered that helped to prepare her for the test. I worked with her closely and was pretty much hands on in terms of teaching style.
My Hobbies
Suduko/logic problems, Chattanooga Lookouts baseball, Chattanooga Football Club, spending time with best friend/fiancee and her grandchildren, running a support/social group for adults on the autism spectrum
Other Comments
I am pretty easy going, and I will challenge a student to think in a different way than what he/she has learned in the past.
