Experience Summary
I have been a teaching assistant and tutor for the physics department at Wofford College for two years (starting in 2013). This covers both semesters of general physics, from classical mechanics to waves to electricity and magnetism to optics and modern. I have also taken all of the upper level courses available at the school.
Teaching Style
I prefer to meet with students who have already looked at the material and are prepared with questions. We can then approach these problems together and solve anything the student was unable to do themselves. If I notice a gap in the theory behind something. I will then fill it in adding a physical example when I am capable of doing so.
I have also had to teach a few topics to a student who could not grasp the concept from the professor, so I am not against approaching the sessions like that, but I believe it is better for the student to come prepared with questions and problems that I can then help them with.
My Hobbies
I am president of Wofford College's Society of Physics Students chapter, and do research for the school as well. Other than that, I spend my time catching up on current articles in physics, as well as reading books written by some of my favorite physicists. When I am not being a physicist, I enjoy playing some games and relaxing with a cup of tea.
