Experience Summary
I have nearly twenty years of experience engaging with pre-school to eighth grade children. My work has primarily been with special needs students ADD, Asperberger syndrome, autism, emotionally and socially challenged students in a classroom setting. However, I've also lead small groups and one to one activities specific to literacy and writing skills at elementary level. Upon receiving my degree I took a job as Assistant Director at a local daycare with a small staff. Shared methods regarding classroom management and reinforcing positive interactions between teachers and students. My experience also includes a Program Coordinator position for a community afterschool program. I directed a small team of individuals to engage elementary students in various age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities .
Teaching Style
I believe that engaging children with activites that are of interest to them automatically opens up a world of development! Find out how they learn whether that be audibly or cognitively etc. and that child is usually set up for success. And also learning through play can develop critical thinking and social skills. It is important as an educator to take the time to know your student(s) because each one learns differently.
