Experience Summary
I have taught in Michigan and in California. I also have credentials as a school counselor and psychologist. I have experience with all aspects of the special education system from the K through grade 12 level. This incudes testing, placement and re-evaluation and the IEP process. I also have worked at the post secondary level and am familiar with academic and financial aide requirements.
Teaching Style
I am very aware of the necessity of adapting my teaching style to the learning modality of those I am working with. As an educator I evaluated students to define how they best process information. They may be auditory learners, visual learners or they may use a combination approaches. I am very patient and understand that everyone can learn. I believe in setting goals and evaluating progress to establish new goals when necessary.
My Hobbies
I have played and coached sports all of my life. I still play tennis, golf, and softball.
Other Comments
I have a great deal of experience is evaluating students and setting short and long term goals that are appropriate and attainable. Definable goals and regular evaluation are a necessary part of a teaching program. I am also comfortable working with students that may be considered ADHD or have minor behavior problems. I have worked with students from K through post secondary level.
