25 years teaching various age groups in mathematics, fitness and martial arts
Math subjects include algebra, statistics, calculus, trigonometry, logic, discrete math; I can tutor any math subject in K - Junior year of college.
When students turn to tutoring, they often allow the tutor to do their thinking. This is counter productive to learning. A tutor is a coach, as well as, someome who shares their knowledge and skills. Learning math requires building neuro network connections in the brain. Anyone can learn math, at any age, but just like exercise, the mental muscle must be built with hard work. Learning how to learn sometimes is the first step.
I take a diagnostic approach to tutoring. It does no good tutoring algebra is a student doesn't understand numbers and arithmetic. Likewise, a student must have a working knowledge of algebra before they can be successful in calculus. I prefer to start students at their lowest level of understanding and then move them forward.

You empower learners when you give them the chance to arrive at the solution. I utulize coaching skills to bring out the best in every learner.

I have experience with all age groups. In addition to being a professor, I also have my own karate school where I coach ages 6 and up.
