Experience Summary

I am a highly creative and skilled graphic designer, illustrator, and web designer with great studio management skills who thrives in the media and advertising sectors. I have extensive graphic design knowledge, and I am a locally-published web designer who brings exceptional knowledge and enthusiasm to every design process and project. I am a designer successful at experimenting with new approaches, techniques, and software. I thrive under pressure and I am inspired by an artistic challenge. Through design, I aim to create pixel perfect quality work. I search for the fantastic within the ordinary to flesh out beautiful design concepts that bring visions to life. I have an eye for detail and I really like experimenting with different approaches. There is no greater passion for me than this. My goal is simple; to create excellent graphics that make anything that I want to shine. I take real pride in each and every job I do. I aim to enhance my knowledge and further develop my skills and talent in visual communication every time I’m holding a pen or sitting in front of a computer screen for the benefit of the entire workplace, the customer, as well as my personal and professional growth. I have an Associates of Applied Science in Visual Communication (Graphic Design) as well as a Certificate of Proficiency in Graphic Design. I have been working as a designer for 6 years and have been employed at Tyler Junior College as their Graphic Designer in their Marketing and Digital Media department for the last two years. I am currently enrolled as a student at Texas State University and pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Communication Design. I am proficient in many Adobe Creative Suite software programs to generate high quality images and web pages. The software that I am proficient with are: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Muse, Lightroom, and more. My skills include: Illustration, graphic design, web design, drawing, custom typography, commercial and advertisement design, multimedia design, typesetting, identity and branding.

Teaching Style

Being a professional designer is about making the boring interesting. You must possess a strong sense of aesthetics and be able to turn something ugly into something beautiful. Design isn’t about software or computers necessarily, it’s about visual communication. Being a designer is about understanding people (often very specific groups of them). You must intuitively or explicitly know a thing or two about human psychology. What motivates people to act? How will people respond to certain visual styles? How can you leverage design to help people understand whatever it is you want to tell them? With this said, I believe that a solid foundation in basic design principles is an absolute must and will stay with a person for their entire career. A great way to teach good design practices is by showcasing bad ones, discussing why they’re bad and creating beautiful pieces of work while giving them a hands on experience all of the time. The composition techniques that I can teach to students will show them how to develop their ideas in graphic design and help them bring out their inner creativity. I am very easy going, outgoing, and a lot of fun! I like to think of myself as encouraging and nurturing, but I am not afraid to give tough critique, and I will be brutally honest if necessary. If you want to be the best, you have to give it your best!
