Experience Summary
Bachelor's in secondary education with certification in biology. Bachelor's in animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. Taught general science to 7th and 8th graders for a year. Taught 9th grade biology for one year. I just moved into the area, and am currently looking for a biology position in the Noblesville region.
Teaching Style
I am a certified modeling teacher. Modeling is a "hands on" inquiry based style of teaching. I teach through allowing the students to deal with a given problem or scenario. I then use extensive amount of questioning to help the child to use their logic to solve the problem. This not only teaches the science material; but it also helps the student to learn how to think logically and to ask themselves the right questions. In other words, I don't just teach the material, I teach students how to think critically in a way that not only helps the student to learn the science, but also in other areas where critical thinking is needed to help understand and solve problems.
My Hobbies
Horse back riding, gardening, reading, and animal husbandry.

Anatomy |
This is one of my top subjects!
|
I was educated in pre-veterinary medicine as an undergrad. This required a lot of anatomy and physiology based courses. I also come from a medically based family and was introduced to anatomy and physiology at fairly young age. By the time I took anatomy and physiology at the collegiate level, I did not have to use my medical dictionary for definitions due to having an expansive knowledge of the terminology already. |
Biology |
This is one of my top subjects!
|
Certified biology teacher with a second bachelor's degree in animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. I did biologically based research while in college, and for some time afterward. Have extensive background in several biologically based areas. I have taught 9th grade biology and am currently working as a biology teacher. |
Genetics |
This is one of my top subjects!
|
I have taught genetics on the high school level. I also have had multiple genetics courses and genetics based courses while in college. Worked in a research lab that was working with genetics for three years. Genetics and evolution are my favorite topics to teach in my classes. |
Life Science |
|
My education includes two degrees in the life sciences. My first one was animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. The second was secondary education with an emphasis in biology. I teach biology and have had plenty of experience in many of the biologically based sciences like ecology, genetics, and anatomy and physiology. |
Science |
|
I have an expansive background in the field of science. I have two degrees in the field of the sciences. My first degree was animal science / pre-veterinary medicine. This required me to take a lot of scientific based courses. This includes biology based courses, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. I have also taught general science at the the 7th and 8th grade levels. |
