Experience Summary
I have been a student for the last 10 years while working full time in the service industry. I am friendly, supportive, and positive! I have a life long love of learning that I hope to encourage in others as they reach their personal and educational goals. I attended Santiago Canyon Community College and received an Associated Arts degree in general education before I continued on to California State University Long Beach to receive a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English Literature. I am now a student at San Jose State University completing my Master's degree in Library and Information Science. I have a 3.8 GPA and am currently a member of the American Library Association. I have worked with grade school children as a vocational volunteer to help with homework assignments and critical thinking skills. I currently work as a Library Assistant at Irvine Valley College where I assist the diverse student body with many skills. I have extensive knowledge of writing skills including MLA and APA formatting.
Teaching Style
I think people learn best when they are in a supportive and exciting environment. Education should engage students on multiple levels. I emphasis critical thinking skills and multi-faceted learning rather than asking students to spit back information that they won't retain. Knowledge is power and I encourage students to think beyond their grades so that they can harness their own potential.
My Hobbies
I love hiking, reading, writing historical romance novels, poetry, and cooking!
