Experience Summary
Hello! I am an artist and graphic designer looking to share some of the knowledge and skills I have acquired over the years. I earned a BFA in Visual Communication Design with an emphasis in Illustration from the University of Dayton in 2001. In 2005 I completed an MFA in Painting at Northern Illinois University. I have taught drawing and graphic design courses at the college level and have experience working with children as a counselor and art teacher at summer camps.
My specialties are in teaching drawing and painting using graphite, charcoal and acrylic as well as digital illustration utilizing Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Beyond this, I enjoy tutoring in a wide variety of other subjects I excel at, including literature, reading and writing, and algebra.
You will find that I am flexible and patient and that I am compatible with a great range of ages and learning styles. I look forward to working with you!
Teaching Style
I give the student a lot of credit. The learning process is a sort of guided exploration.

Bicycling, reading, rabbits, and records.

| I earned a BFA in Illustration (2001) and an MFA in Painting (2005). I began honing my traditional drawing skills at age 12 and have not stopped. Drawing is my preferred studio art activity and has occupied the majority of my studio time in recent years. My preferred mediums are charcoal and graphite. |

| I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design with a concentration in Illustration. I began using the Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop about fifteen years ago and know the Creative Suite pretty well. Nevertheless, we must remember that these are the tools of the designer and it is the human who makes the decisions in the creative work. |
