Experience Summary
I have extensive experience tutoring and mentoring students in creative writing and composition arenas. As lead teaching assistant for entry-level undergraduate Creative Writing courses at Oberlin College, I facilitated small group workshops, provided students with feedback on their writing, and wrote lesson plans designed to help each individual improve technically as a writer. I met weekly with individual students to provide stream-lined, individualized feedback. Last summer I worked in Harare, Zimbabwe as a teacher of Creative Writing. I lead workshops in poetry and prose. I have experience editing and teaching advanced topics in writing. I would love to work with you.
Teaching Style
I am a friendly, out going person who is very invested in my students work. I believe that to write well one must have a relationship with the content that matters to him or her. I enjoy learning about a person and taking on a mentorship role as well as a direct and focused editing role.
