Experience Summary
First and foremost, I am passionate about helping children and youth learn, overcome obstacles, and believe in themselves, whether that be academically or otherwise. Over the years, I have learned and had the opportunity to work with and encourage children and teenagers with various behavioral issues, ranging from Aspergers Syndyrome to anxiety and anger issues,so I have a great deal of patience with students whom others consider difficult to work with. Having graduated from the University of North Georgia with a degree in Writing & Publication and a Minor in Mass Communications, I'm confident that the skills I've acquired would serve me well as an effective tutor. My outgoing personality, sense of humor, patience, and 6-summer experience as a camp counselor combine to create an enjoyable learning atmosphere for the students I tutor . With a genuine enthusiasm for working with people from a myriad of backgrounds, I look forward to the opportunity to help you in whatever capacity that I can. Lastly, as a contributor and editor to UNG's online newspaper, I gained useful interviewing skills in the realm of journalism, which I believe further reinforce my communication skills. Also, I have extensive experience in short story, flash fiction, and poetry writing. As a middle school student, I was awarded Young Georgia Author of the Year, and have always loved creating stories.
Teaching Style
My approach is patient, and I delight in allowing students to make discoveries with purposeful guidance. The overarching goal is to show students that they are capable of doing great things and achieving what they may have doubted was possible for them. That is what truly gives me joy in the tutoring process; not merely instructing, but empowering students.
