Experience Summary
ASL is my first language. I am very willing to teach my first language and develop the language with you!! I have a few teaching backgrounds: I was a government supplemental instructor when I was in college, Gallaudet University. I developed strategies to fit the individual's preference. I hosted tutor sessions 3x a week. This position was a volunteer work. Throughout my graduate career at University of South Fl (I already have my MA in Special Ed/Intellectual Disabilities), I have taught preschoolers and pre-K to K students sign language to help them develop a language. I also worked with a several students with Autism and taught them sign language to communicate with others. I have tutored ASL to several families. One of my clients has a daughter who is special needs and was non-verbal. I got her talking in ASL in few weeks. I also taught a family from Brazil with a deaf child ASL. They have learned so much over 2 months and they have told me they are able to communicate with other deaf people. Currently I am a volunteer at Lake Sybelia Elementary & Eagle Creek Elementary under OCPS teaching pre-K to K. My passion is to teach others. One day I'll become a teacher for the deaf/hh.
