Experience Summary
I am a middle school math and science teacher in a top school district with experience in grades 5th through 8th. I have experience working with a wide variety of students ranging from students with difficulties in understanding mathematics and students with learning disabilities to advanced learners. I specialize in making math relevant, fun and accessible to all learners. I focus on developing problem solving strategies and organization with my students. I also have experience tutoring science students on math projects for science fairs and Science Olympiad.
Teaching Style
I love to teach/tutor math and science and to bring joy and excitement to the learning process. I use a variety of strategies including math manipulatives and kinesthetic movement to help my students understand the concepts and relationships inherent in mathematics. My goal is to inspire your child to learn on their own and to develop the skills to be self sufficient in their math and science learning, and so I hope the time comes when my services are no longer needed and your child is self sufficient.
My Hobbies
I love continually learning more about math and science (and I hope your child will come to love this too), swimming, cycling, running especially in triathlons, hiking, rock climbing and spending time with my family and our dogs. I also volunteer in the animal rescue community as I am passionate about helping those in need.
