Experience Summary
I have taught ESL for 12 years and high school English for 2 years in public schools. I tutored my first subjects many years ago while in college when I tutored Composition I and II, Poetry, and Psychology. I have since tutored many hours in English-related areas. I specialize in English as a Second Language and have taught students from all around the world at a variety of proficiency levels. I have teaching licenses in multiple subjects in ND and MN and have a Master's degree in Teaching.
Teaching Style
I believe learning should be fun. I also think its perfectly okay to make mistakes and know that we all do! I try to make all students feel at ease around me and we usually find ourselves laughing as we learn. I assess your skill levels in multiple areas and gear my lessons to your needs. I use measurable assessments so you can see your progress.
My Hobbies
Some of my hobbies include reading, writing, solving puzzles, completing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, art of all sorts and traveling around the US.
Other Comments
I offer variable rates and discounts. Basically, the price goes down the longer you are with me. For example, my initial hourly rate is $45 but if you purchase a package of 10 or more sessions, I will discount it to $40 per hour. Then, after 20 hours of tutoring, the hourly price drops to $40 or $35 per hour for a package of ten or more sessions when paid in advance.
