Experience Summary
Hello! My name is Jennie and I am a Kindergarten Teacher as well as a junior high cheer coach. I graduated from Augustana College in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with middle grade endorsements in Mathematics and Language Arts. I have worked a great deal with children of all ages (3 +). I am currently finishing up my 3rd year as a kindergarten teacher and have LOVED every minute of it! I've also taught other grades from 1st-8th grade throughout college and student taught a 6th grade classroom. I have experience teaching all subject areas between grades k-8. I really enjoy teaching elementary math, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra skills.
Teaching Style
I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible, and successful individuals as well as life-long learners. I have had wonderful opportunities to teach diverse groups of students including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level, and those who were gifted/exceptional. Therefore, I have become proficient at differentiating instruction and designing creative and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences, bring a hands-on approach to learning, and keep students interested and focused. My greatest strengths include being conscientious and inspiring and motivating students. I actively engage their eager minds by implementing "best practice" in my instructional approach and incorporating a variety of manipulatives, enjoyable activities, and cooperative learning projects. In addition, I tailor lesson plans to meet their diverse interests, as well as demonstrate direct connections between the classroom and everyday life.
My Hobbies
I am an active person and enjoy working out, swimming, and playing/watching sports. I also enjoy reading and discussing a good book.
Other Comments
I absolutely love children and enjoy working with any age. I am CPR and WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Certified through the American Red Cross. I taught swim lessons for the past 9 years where I worked with children and adults of all ages.
