Experience Summary
Starting as an English major, and working as a tutor for Huntington Learning Centers, I have always loved working with students of all levels in the English language - in all its facets: from grammar to style. At a time when proper use of the language is increasingly rare (but required to master tests) it is a special interest of mine to promote successful language arts skills and strategies in students. Good writing can be persuasive, informative, or entertaining, and each has its particular components. Having been a professional writer, editor, tutor and teacher, I am intimately aware of what it takes to excel in each.
Teaching Style
Having been tutor at Huntington Learning centers and a private tutor, I excel at one on one tutoring relationships. It is essential to understand the level of competence of the student and moving from that to gradual improvement of skills. Each student is an individual, with unique views and talents; therefore, each expresses their views in unique ways. It is my job to nurture these views to their ultimate expression.
