Experience Summary
I've been informally teaching for around 7 years, starting with private percussion lessons and high school drumline instruction and most recently tutoring through the Migrant Education Program in the subject areas of English as a Second Language, math, science, and Spanish. I am a current Geography Teacher Education student at Illinois State University minoring in Spanish. I will receive my license after completing my student teaching requirement in the spring of 2015.
Teaching Style
I propone an exploratory, learn-by-doing philosophy regarding education; I believe that students are best served producing their own inquiries (guided by an educator), and then seeking resolution through gathering information. Nevertheless, all students learn differently and I pride my ability to adapt to certain situations and provide the healthiest learning environment for my students that I can.
My Hobbies
I have been playing music for all of my life, beginning with piano and shifting focus towards percussion. I currently provide rhythm for numerous musical groups. I am an avid traveler who has been fortunate enough to see around seven other countries, and over half of the United States. I love language and all it entails – the ability to communicate our thoughts eloquently is to me perhaps the most fascinating aspect of humanity. I also enjoy the outdoors through camping, snowboarding, hiking, and various motor sports.
