Experience Summary
Hello,
My name is Brian and I majored in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Riverside. In middle school and high school, I took every Honors and Advanced Placement math and science class offered. In college I have taken differential equations, single and multi-variable calculus and physics for engineers. I have always excelled in math and in high school I found that I am also good a teaching it to others.
I do not have a lot of formal tutoring experience. I mainly have just helped out friends and friends' siblings whenever it was needed. In high school I helped classmates when they did not understand certain concepts in our math classes. I also tutored a friend's younger brother for about a year and a half, in Geometry and Algebra 2. His parents asked if I could help him because he was struggling in geometry and we succeeded in raising his grade from a D on his progress report to a B on his first report card. Then to an A on his second report card. Due to the immense progress that he made, his parents asked me to help him the following year in Algebra 2. I have not tutored very much during college, but I have helped my younger sister, who is in high school, in Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus the past two years.
I think that math is a subject that is easiest to learn through repetition. Because of this, I will not simply do your homework for you. I help walk the student through the steps that need to be taken to solve a problem, and if necessary I make up problems on the spot to ensure that the student really understands what steps need to be taken. I truly think that people can learn anything. It is simply a matter of how much work is put in. School can be very hard for some, but the right help can make it much easier and less stressful.
