Experience Summary
Throughout my academic experiences I have had numerous opportunities to share my knowledge with each one helping me develop a toolset of an efficient educator. One of my first teaching experiences was in my home country, Belarus, when I have taught and tutored English at the Minsk State linguistic University for 4 years. During that time I have practiced my organizational and educational skills working at a children`s activities center as a counselor. Also I have gone through continuous pedagogical practice which included giving individual English lessons as well as teaching English in class. I learned how to organize a safe leaning environment, welcome a student`s individuality, how to encourage and interest students to participate in the process of learning using different teaching techniques.While I was working on my Associate Degree in Bellevue College I worked as a tutor of French for the college, assisting my students in all levels of French. I planned carefully each individual tutorial emphasizing phonetic, grammar and lexical skills. I analyzed and assessed student`s level, individual talents, abilities as well as individual learning styles in order to better suit student`s learning needs. While attaining my Bachelors in French and Linguistics at Western Washington University I continued tutoring French and began tutoring Russian for total of three years. This time I taught French to elementary school kids, thus, I faced shorter attention spans and since I could not change the material all i could do was changing kids involvement with it. Therefore, I planned their sessions altering it in meaningful blocks, followed by singing French songs, playing active games, playing memory games and exploring aspects of French culture by simply exploring the world. Additionally, I tutored Russian at Western Washington University to students introducing and explaining diverse cultures of Russian speaking countries, as well as focusing on student`s pronunciation, grammar and lexical skills.
I grew up In Belarus where I learned English as my first foreign language at the age of six. Throughout college at the Mink State linguistic University I both taught and tutored English for four years.
While in Minsk I also gained vital experience as a Russian English Interpreter for BelExpo international.
I began to learn French while attending the Minsk State Linguistic University. In 2008 I came to the US to further my education. I graduated from Bellevue College, WA, with Associate Degree in Arts and Science in 2011and in 2013 graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Washington University with bachelors in French and Linguistics.
Teaching Style
I have learned five different languages and am currently working on mastering Spanish. While completing my bachelors in linguistics I gained a keen understanding of the growth and evolution of syntax and grammar. This has given me great benefit in helping students overcome the hurdles of learning a foreign language.
