Experience Summary

I have over 30 years experience with Special Education. From 2002 - 2011 I was lead teacher in a Comprehensive Developmental Classroom K-2. It was during that time in my search to be an effective teacher that I found Dr. Svetlana Masgutova PH.D. "MasgutovaMethod.com". As educators we are taught to only look at the brain as the source of intellect, that is, the cortex or higher order thinking part of the brain. My understanding now is that if there is a problem with protection and survival (brain stem) we have to correct that in first order because it is the ultimate foundation for higher order thinking. As we begin to address the infant reflexes, sensory system, hearing, sight, touch, smell, taste we begin to see better cognitive functioning, emotional regulation, physical coordination, social interaction, etc. improve. My mission is to facilitate and draw out the innate qualities in each person. Please refer to "Other Comments".

My Hobbies

Worker at Masgutova Family Educational Conferences throughout the United States and Canada. Conferences last from 4 days to 8 days. I work with a dedicated team from around the world treating Children and Adults with Challenges from around the world for 6 to 8 hours a day. 2013 worked 11 conferences. We work one on one for 50 minute sessions for 6 hours a day. Dr. Masgutova was a speaker for the 2013 Autism One Conference in Chicago.

Masgutova Method Infant Reflex assessment ( 26+ Reflexes). This is a physical assessment to observe present neurological functioning. i.e. I use a specific stimulus to specific area of the body to observe the body's response. This tells me if the Reflex is Integrated. If not, we set priorities to improve functioning. "Infant Reflexes are protective motor responses by the brain stem to internal or external stimuli. ...One of a combination of four basic conditions can cause primary infant motor reflex dysfunctions or pathology: congenital disorder, disease, birth, physical or emotional trauma and prolonged, intermittent or chronic stress. Each of these conditions can cause the central nervous system or motor system to become compromised...The goal is healthy development in which the reflex system is ready when needed for protection and survival and at the same time provides a solid foundation for physical, emotional, and cognitive development."
