Experience Summary
I have taught for 3 years as a professor at several institutions in New York State. I taught Anatomy & Physiology at 3 different community colleges (CC) for the SUNY (State University of New York) system. These colleges are Rockland CC, Westchester CC, and Onondaga CC. A fourth SUNY school I taught for was SUNY - Upstate Medical University where I taught Human Physiology for Physician Assistant students. Afterwards, I entered medical school and am now in my second year of education to becoming an M.D. While in school I tutor classmates at school and students online. Additionally, I developed my own YouTube page (http://www.youtube.com/user/ProfRoofs/videos), Website (www.profroofs.com) and Smart Phone app (available in Google Play & iTunes stores).
Teaching Style
Always thinking as the student, I realize that most teachers tend to forget what it was like to learn Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) for the first time. Therefore, I start with a simple approach of relating A&P to material in the world that you already understand, which then bridges you into the more complex detail sometimes without you even realizing that process. I use metaphors, analogies, mnemonics, drawings, animations, videos and technology to conform to modern day technology. I additionally record our online sessions with screen capture software and then after the lesson I email it to you to watch over as many times as you like, with practice questions relating to that lesson. I do not just "lecture" to you or "read" your notes back to you, I teach a subject for a minute or two and then question you on it. It is this repetitive nature of question and answer that will drill it into your mind. Furthermore, if you have PowerPoints that your professor supplies you with, we can go through them slide by slide and I will electronically mark notes on them as we study and email them to you after our session.
My Hobbies
I enjoy exercise and sports. My favorite sport is hockey, but I also go running and to the gym daily. I enjoy music and like to edit and produce music videos.
Other Comments
The service I provide is usually found at over $50 per hour or more. However, as a student, I understand that funds are generally low. Therefore, the best way to help you, the student, and myself who is still a student is to offer this current price. The FIRST HALF HOUR is FREE! Therefore there is no risk! You see if you like the lesson and after a half hour decide if you want to continue or not, without paying a dime. That is because I am confident that if you give me your time that I will help you and you WILL succeed! Afterwards, if you choose to continue it will be $30/hour.
