Experience Summary
I have completed over 1,000 field experience hours working with students with special needs throughout the course of receiving my special education degree. During these experiences, I have worked with many different students with a wide variety of disabilities and learning difficulties ranging from ADD/ADHD to students with severe needs such as autism and Down syndrome. Throughout my experiences, I have created and implemented lessons and behavior management interventions to address each students individual needs and goals outlined in his/her IEP. I recently worked with a student during the previous summer with a developmental delay. I created and implemented fun lessons and games that addressed her current IEP goals and objectives. I am currently working with a 1.5 year old child with Fragile X syndrome and am mainly working on developmental therapies with him at this time.
Teaching Style
I truly believe that very student has the potential to learn and to grow. It is my job to find a way to reach that student and to find a way to teach a concept in a way that he/she will understand and retain that information. Sometimes it just takes a couple of tries to find the best way for each individual student to learn.
