Experience Summary
I have over two decades of experience in painting and drawing but in the last three years found an equal love in teaching. I am a master painter who is known for color, concept and surface- both textural and lean layers. I can teach in any medium; Grisaille in both oil an acrylic. I have a strong foundation in old master techniques and an amazing eye for color and composition. I recently finished teaching at the University of Arizona.
Teaching Style
Goal oriented and adaptive to most personalities, and I will assert that it is rare to find a great artist that is passionate about teaching. I am both. Teaching is not something I take lightly, and it's this resolve which will be seen in the results of your work. I believe it is a gift to be able to communicate effectively with a student, and I take my job seriously. Therefore I will take notes about your progress. I believe that everyone has the ability to create! I will differ from most mentors- It will be your creative voice that should be heard, and my students will make art that is in there own. I teach based on your skills, not your weaknesses. I am punctual and professional. I have seen many talented people, but it's my assessment that the truly talented are hard workers with healthy egos. Regardless if it's a group setting I teach one on one through demonstrations and conversations. Listening from both parties is key to advancement. I am demanding of myself and believe in the creative process. WARNING: I have a sense of humor.

| I am highly adept at creatively instructing individuals to reach their potential. I was nominated in 2013 as the best instructor for both the college of fine arts and the school of fine arts- I achieved this through being the best teacher for each and every one of my students; I believe that each person has a great skill. And my great skill is effectively communicating and demonstrating your passion. Rather it be art, writing or you just need to find a new way of thinking. I have a Masters in Fine Arts with specialization in the cross pollination of New Media and historic practices. |

| I have taught drawing at a foundations level and am a big believer that practice makes perfect. The classes that I taught were structured on a six week increment; line, mass, gradient and general basics. I can teach pencil, charcoal, pastels and ink. |

I am an expert in color theory and am technically proficient in the mediums of oil, acrylic, ink and watercolor. I have a technical background in Old Master's techniques and am willing to teach fine portraiture to those willing to learn the process. |
