Experience Summary
Hi! I am a certified math teacher with 20 years of experience working with students from elementary school through college. I have a Master's degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Education also. I am very comfortable teaching all different age groups and enjoy working with students one-on-one. One-on-one teaching helps me understand their strengths and weaknesses. I try to listen to my students' needs and evaluate that first, and then based on that I provide support, guidance, advice and encouragement to students on issues regarding their progress in education. I am very consistent and patient with my students.
Since math is very cumulative, I always like to spend some time to review the prior and old material to fill in the gaps and then teach the new material. Since July 1992, I have enjoyed carrying out my responsibilities as a math educator. I enjoy working with children who need more guidance than those typically found in a traditional classroom. I have the ability to connect with my students and teach simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics. I enjoy working with children and careful preparation of lessons allows me to break down complicated concepts to simple examples that students can grasp easily. I try to tailor activities that help in maintaining the interest of high level students well as the less skilled students. I communicate regularly with my students regarding their progress and how they are improving.
Teaching Style
As a tutor my strength lies in supporting, motivating and encouraging students along with teaching them the importance of discipline and staying focused on studies. I have noticed that for some students the actual problem is not the subject/curriculum, they need help with time management and study skills. I try to teach students how to learn better and faster by managing their time efficiently and by organizing how they study.
