About Me

Experience Summary

My name is Linda Sihweil and I am 23 years old. I graduated from the University of South Florida in December of 2012 with a BA in International Studies. The reason I chose this major is because I am pretty passionate about bridging gaps between people of different backgrounds. One of my main goals in life is to help people see that we are all so much more alike than we are different. Currently, I am searching for a part-time job in order to save up money to complete my education. To tell a little more about myself, I come from an Arabic/English speaking household and I'm fluent in both languages. Although my English skills are a bit stronger, Arabic was actually the first language I learned. Throughout my elementary and middle school years, I attended Sunday school in which I learned to read and write in Arabic. Furthermore, I have recently taken three Arabic classes at the University of South Florida and can understand just about any Arabic dialect. Although I have not had much experience tutoring, I have had some experience teaching lessons to young children and more experience assisting adults and students with translation. In high school I took childhood education and taught a few lessons to preschool students. I also helped out in an afterschool daycare for a few weeks. While attending USF, I worked as a student leader with an organization called INTO USF. INTO USF is an on-campus program that helps international students assimilate into the campus community and creates supportive learning environments to help cater to their needs. As a student leader I led group tours, helped students fill out paperwork, and assisted in translation with the Arabic-speaking students. Overall, as you can see, I am an experienced Arabic speaker that is willing to help tutor anyone who would like to learn more about the Arabic language and Arabic culture in general. I am a very patient, honest, and reliable person. I am also very open-minded when it comes to learning about other people and cultures, and hope that whoever I tutor can relate.

Teaching Style

I am open to just about any type of teaching style.

My Hobbies

I would have to say that my favorite hobby is cooking.
