Experience Summary
I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from Western Washington University in 2011, and came out of school with several years of professional design experience under my belt. I had been drawing and living on computers from an early age. I grew up absorbing new programs and have learned to enjoy finding solutions and unearthing some of the more mysterious and helpful features of software that often go unnoticed. I have taken my art through all the hoops, moving through traditional media and general technique and then applying it in a variety of ways across a multitude of programs. Basically, if you're looking do something creative on a computer, I'm going to be able to help you out.
Teaching Style
While I can create targeted exercises and a more structured class, I'd rather be that friend who's a wiz and always has an answer. I will give honest feedback as to your progress and while I can provide solutions to specific projects and difficulties, I'd like to do it in a way that can apply to many problems you could run into in the future. I've learned a lot of tips and tricks that I wish someone had shown me earlier on and I'm always excited to spread the love!
Other Comments
I have a laptop I can bring for demonstrations, but ideally we would be able to work with your main machine, as often I would be wanting to help you streamline your workspace. Sometimes we would be adding brushes to your library, creating shortcuts, or saving templates etc that I'd like you to be able to access later. I also have two Wacom tablets for you to try out and use in lessons. Although my laptop is a PC, I am also comfortable on Macs.

| Offering critique, tips and tricks, helpful exercises for drawing in general. Could introduce you generally to the world or drawing or help you focus on trouble subjects or specific projects. I can also help all levels and styles of bringing your drawings to life on the computer. Can guide you into the basics of of scanning and clean up your work for digital presentation, adding color, different shading styles and finishing effects like textures and color adjustments. Can also work with the creation of vector illustration or comics. |

We can work through specific projects or discuss general rules and practices of the art. | Although I also have experience in traditional painting, I am offering instruction to those who are interested in digital painting using programs like Adobe Photoshop. I have an extra Wacom drawing tablet that you could use, and also have advice for someone wanting to work with just a mouse. I address all levels, from the basics you'll need to know with scanning sketches and using brushes and layers to more advance illustrators already familiar and looking for tips and tricks as how to streamline and advance their process. |
