Experience Summary
In my current position for O.C. Tanner, one of my main responsibilities is to develop, test, and deploy software that improves efficiency and user experience using customized SharePoint and VBA solutions. This endeavor has lead me to reducing 25 hours of report creation in Excel each month to 15 minutes, freeing up additional time for more value added work. In addition, I had to manage various projects; through developing this skill, I have learned to work individually and with groups to achieve a variety of goals. My most important achievement so far has been a sustained reduction in ergonomic injuries of 80%, resulting in $180,000 reduced workers compensation claims each year. I achieved this through group of 25 leaders who received specialized training, I developed, in assessing their work areas for ergonomic risks. I then guided these leaders to develop projects to reduce those risks. I am very proud of the results this project made; not just for the financial contribution made to my company, but also to the health and wellbeing it has brought our employees.
In addition to my job functions at O.C. Tanner, I do consulting work for other clients. I have worked with MediaForge, an online marketing firm, to generate a daily report for their team. In the past, this process required a full time position to complete manually. I have automated part of the process and it is now a one hour task that one person has integrated into their other work responsibilities. I have also worked with Nelson Labs, a biological testing facility. For this company I was developing scientific testing tools for their lab techs and then completing rigorous testing to verify their accuracy and consistency. Another client I have worked with is C&W. This client needed an existing spreadsheet parsed and converted to a comma separated value file that met specific criteria to be uploaded to a state website. In all these projects I was able to meet my client’s needs, give them accurate documentation, and deliver solutions on or under budget.
In closing, I want to reiterate that I have strong Excel skills. These skills were born out of a need to go beyond the native functionality of the program and automate complex or tedious tasks. I have successfully saved my company and clients time, money, and errors by the work I have done and would continue to do so into the future. I feel that my skills would partner well with a company looking for someone who is an expert in Excel.
