Experience Summary
I am a former social worker, "turned teacher". I returned to school in 1998 to "recycle myself" and finished an M.A. in 2000. I did not continue, to become a fully credentialed teacher. I have had 8 years + experience as a substitute teacher, in high school, middle school and elementary school. High school was a favorite, but now I find that elementary students (1st thru 5th) are more accepting of my "grandma-like" appearance.
Teaching Style
I use lesson plans and schedules left by the teacher, as well as textbooks and other materials like workbooks which are familiar to the children. I leave a written synopsis of the day for the teacher, including notes on behavioral issues or good/helpful behaviors.
My Hobbies
I enjoy raising and living with my cats. Hopefully, I have reason for this interest, not just an older "crazy cat lady". I also like music, the arts, shopping, home decor, and hope for travel. I enjoy using my computer and learning more about what can be done with it!
Other Comments
I enjoy the challenges and pleasures of being in the classroom as a teacher, and also one-on-one tutoring.
