Experience Summary
I have interpreted for several events in the area. I love sharing the Spanish language with others and teaching the language using a variety of techniques. I have experience tutoring English to English language learners where Spanish is the first language. I have been recognized for presentations in both Spanish and French from Northern Kentucky University during the annual Research and Creativity presentations. I have experience in public schools teaching Spanish to children ranging from ages 12-18 and have excellent reviews from cooperating teachers. My biggest passion in life is the Spanish language and being able to share it with others.
Teaching Style
I prefer as much conversation as possible. The best way to learn a foreign language is to be as immersed as possible. I also think the importance of culture should be stressed and taught. I believe in an interactive environment using the language to learn about foods, people, places, and ideas. The language and culture should be taught as one. I tend to be less rigid of an instructor but I do believe in assessment and personal responsibility. However, knowing the learning style of the student is key to effective teaching.
My Hobbies
I enjoy watching Spanish language and cultural movies. I play french horn in a community wind ensemble. I also enjoy experiencing foods from around the world and cooking ethnic dishes.
